John 3:15
“That everyone who believes may have eternal life in Him.”
As Christians, it’s easy to become timid in our faith; especially in a world where persecution has become so common. From believers in Nigeria, Sudan, and Pakistan who face real danger, to pastors in the United Kingdom being arrested simply for preaching the gospel, standing firm for Christ often comes with a cost.
Yet the call to evangelise remains just as important today as it was in the early church. Evangelism doesn’t always mean standing on a stage or preaching to crowds. It can be as simple as sharing a coffee with a friend and talking about how God has blessed you lately. Sometimes it’s quietly living in a way that reflects Christ’s love and truth, even when it means being misunderstood or excluded.
Ephesians 6 reminds us that sharing the gospel is part of the Armour of God: “having your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.” Paul emphasises the importance of putting on the full armour: truth, righteousness, faith, salvation, the Word, and readiness to share the gospel. Some scholars even suggest that when we neglect evangelism, we leave ourselves spiritually exposed, vulnerable to the enemy’s attacks.
Throughout the Gospel of John, we see Christ’s love and humility expressed in such a beautifully poetic way that it naturally stirs us to share His message, not out of duty, but out of love. Love for God, and love for others who are made in His image.
We share the gospel because we desire for all people to receive the same beautiful gift we’ve received: salvation and eternal life through Jesus Christ.
So go forth—speak boldly, live righteously, and let the Holy Spirit be your counsellor and guide as you spread the good news.
God Bless
